low battery message

I turned on my Inspiron 15 laptop and saw a message that said my battery was low press F1 to continue or press F2 to run the utility. I did not know what that meant so I pressed F1 and plugged it in right away-nothing happened. I could hear noise but the screen was blank so I turned if off and closed the cover. Of the 4 lights in the front the one of the far left is blinking slowly and the 3rd one from the left is on steady. The other two are not on. I tried lifting the cover once and it was like it turned on which it has never done before-so I turned the power button off and closed the lid again. I just got this laptop a few months ago. I don't know what this means or what I should do. Can someone help me?

Hi BaffledSue,

It seems like the battery power is completely drained out. Please connect the system with AC adapter for 2-3 hours and then try switching ON the system. I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the system switches ON.

  1. Switch off the computer.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
  3. Remove the battery from the computer.
  4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the system switches ON.
