m1710 drivers

Jump to solution

just got an XPS M1710 second hand.  I've installed Windows 7, applied all updates etc.

How do I decide what drivers I need to load?

In particular, I'd like to get the SD card slot working.

Hi Gary

It would have helped to know what version of win 7 you have installed is it 32 bit or 64 bit ?

If you go to the link above you will find Vista 32 bit or 64 bit drivers for your card reader they should work for win 7

in 32/64 bit Look for it in chipset for Ricoh card reader !

There is no driver for win 7 just use the Vista 32/64 bit drivers  .

Edit Rick is faster then i was sorry !

Good Luck

Gary,

When you installed Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) did you install the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers first? If not the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order If you cannot find Windows 7 drivers, then try using the Vista (or XP) 32-bit drivers, for Windows 7 32-bit of the Vista (or XP) 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit and install the drivers in the Compatibility mode.

I installed Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate edition (as a MSDN member I can install any version I like).  I just installed that and only after that tried looking at which Dell drivers I might need.  For most PC's I've used beofre Windows Update finds all the devices and just loads the drivers, not sure why Dell don't use that feature.

I've managed to load some drivers, e.g. the touchpad one, but the there is a long list of drivers on the support site for my laptop, some are clearly not the ones I want.

I did install the chipset drivers first though.

I'll try the Ricoh driver.

Thanks for your help.
