sdhc or usb flash for extra storage
hello there,
this is my first post so please be gentle on me :) I hope I am posting in the right section.
ok, I have a couple of Dell XT notebook/tabs which I have managed to get Windows 8 up and running with most of the original features intact eg-n trigg drivers, Amd drivers etc.
They only have the 40gb 1.8 zif hard drives so space is my biggest problem. And from reading and researching the internet, I believe upgrading is tricky, expensive and not always a wise move to make on these particular models.
So to a possible solution, and I am hoping there is a lot of experts on here who can advise me.
They are both fitted with a sd cardreader but I can't seem to find any specs on which cards are recognised on them.
I would like to upgrade my storage through using a SD card but not sure which would give me the best results ie:- which class, what Gb and whether ultra or SX would be compatible.
Is this a feasible idea or would there be problems and would the speed be tolerable.
Maybe I would be better using a usb flashdrive, if so which type.
I know this is a very open ended question and maybe it would'nt work very well but with the low price of memory cards and flash drives, to me, as a layman, it seems a good cheap solution to grabbing a little more storage cheaply without the complications and expense of upgrading my existing hard drive.
I thank you in advance for your time and any pros and cons you guys can offer on this subject
