smaller M6400 power supply

I have tried the much smaller 90W power supply of my Dell D810 laptop with my M6400 laptop.

It works fine, seemingly.

Other than a slower charge of the battery, is there any risk of damaging the M6400?

I have even measured the power consumed by the M6400 while working and it is around 54 W while working, it rarely goes over 70 W, so 90W should be fine.

Thanks,

Antonio

I tried the same with an old power supply(M60) on my M6300, but it doesn't boot, BIOS warning says that the powersupply is to weak to go on. So wondering that this seems to work with the M6400. But from the technical side this sould be no problem the charge current is less than the origonal power supply so it should not harm the battery i think, but i am not  100% shure about it.

On the M6400 you can configure the BIOS to ignore power supply messages.

On the M6300 the solution is to boot it up on the battery and switch on the power supply as soon as the BIOS has loades
