If you have a startup that includes "avg" uncheck it, click Apply, Click Okay

and select re-start computer. (What anti-virus program are you using, Norton (NAV) ?

If restart is still slow re-run the msconfig command. Select the "Tools" tab.

Highlight System Restore and click Launch. Click "Create a restore point.

Click Next. Give the restore point creation a name, Pre-Boot, and click the

Create button. When it's finished click the "Close" button.

Now go to Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Disk Cleanup

Check (or leave checked) every item *except* for Downloaded Program Files. Also leave Office Setup Files unchecked if you have MS Office installed on your system; otherwise check that too. Click Ok at bottom. (If it seems to take forever - over 5 minutes - click Cancel. Re-run the Disk Cleanup but this time select the More Options tab. Click the System Restore Clean up (at the bottom). Click Yes. When done click the x (close button). Try restarting system for time evaluation.

btw, You did notice (in System Tools) the Disk Defragmenter and another way to access the System Restore 'page'.
