studio 1555, doesn't work, beeps 7 times, CPU Cache Test Failure???
I've had my laptop for over a year now and have never experienced anything like this before.
Was doing Online shopping this morning no problems at all, took the laptop back upstairs to put it back on charge, plugged the cord in and then the computer screen froze. Pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL, nothing happened pressed ESC nothing happened, so I switched it off. Press the POWER button & the screen stayed black, keyboard backlight comes on, then the beeping starts..
7 times CPU Cache Test Failure (CPU failure)
5 times RTC Power Fail (CMOS battery failure)
4 times RAM Read/Write failure (Memory failure)
The above is the BEEP CODES according to the DELL Studio setup guide booklet that cae with my LAPTOP.
What I want to know is can I fix this problem myself?? If yes how??
or do I have to take it to a PC Repair shop??, if yes what cost a I looking at roughly for it to be fixed??
Finally is my laptop completely stuffed??
Any help on the above questions would be greatly appreciated. I thank everyone in Advance :emotion-2:
I've done the removing battery & pressing the power button trick several times, and it still beeps as above.

You've almost certainly a bad mainboard - if so, you're looking at $300-400 for the part, plus labor if you're out of warranty.

Just had one in and the CPU is gone as well at just under 13 months old, I suppose DELL will tell me it's out of warranty, as usual! But hee in the UK the "Sale of Goods Act" applies along with the reasonable lifetime warranty. I suppose I'll have to get into a fight with PCW about it and threaten legal action before they'll deal with it properly. But it will be dealt with.
I understand that occasionally things go wrong with parts etc, but what I don't understand is why these organisations think they can get away with it. More consumers should be standing up for their rights with these big companies. Dont buy extended warranties, do insist on your legal rights.
SALE OF GOODS ACT / REASONABLE LIFETIME, it's your right, fight for it.
