upgrade cpu?

I was wondering if I can upgrade my CPU on my xps m140 laptop.It currently has an Intel pentium m centrino 1.73GHz processor.Does anyone know where I can find information on how to do this?If I even can.

The system uses the old Pentium M CPU - the fastest of these is the Pentium M 780, at 2.26 GHz. 

You CANNOT use any Core CPUs -- no Core Duo, Core Solo, Core 2 Duo, Core i7.

All of these will be used, since they haven't been produced in quite a while - and it'll likely run you $200 or more for that used CPU.  You're probably better off putting the funds toward a newer system.

Make sure your system is clean - clear out all the dust from the heatsink - if you upgrade, since a faster CPU will run hotter.  Also make sure you completely clean off all the old thermal interface material from the heatsink and apply new material before you mount the new CPU.

yes but ihav question i found a intel core two duo p8700 2.53 ghz 479 socket 34 watt for $19 new now while i think ill need new fan to run it considering wats in it now is the p 770 2.26ghz 27 watt wat problems wll i run into if specs the same its also got 2 gb ram and vista home p. 32 bit  plz i havent bought it yet and id like to get some use out of it even tho ill eventually get a new one for convenience
