We need to know what system model you have.  Are these USB 3.0 ports?

Model: Inspiron N5110, 5321, etc.

Hi DRIRH,

What is the exact system model? What is the current OS installed on the system? When did the issue start?

Please check if there is any damage on the machine. Check if all the ports on the machine are fine or misaligned. Sometimes if the pins in the USB ports are touching each other, they are known to cause many issues on the machine.

Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and download the BIOS, update and restart the machine and check.

Also reinstall the chipset drivers from the same site and check.

If the issue is not resolved, send us a screenshot of the device manager with Universal Serial Bus Controllers expanded and check for any unknown devices listed.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.
