vga to tv out

How do I tell if my video card supports vga to tv out?  I have an Inspiron N5010.

Please help me understand if you want to connect the laptop to a television?

Inspiron N5010 does have a VGA port and supports VGA out from the computer. You can connect an external television/monitor to extend/clone the display on the external monitor.

I was wondering if it would be possible to connect the vga to a rca video port and the speakers to rca audio ports to play movies from my laptop on an old tv.  Would this give decent quality?

Hi Muchuchubacca,

VGA port is capable of transferring only Video Signals. However, any signal to be converted to an RCA signal it must have a Video as well as Audio transferring capability. If you use any commercially available VGA to RCA adapter it can give only video output to your TV. Please check the below mentioned picture for a VGA to RCA adapter:
