windows 8 and bios boot order
Hi. I'm hoping someone here can help me understand this because its melting my brain. I have quite an old laptop - Inspiron 6400 but I have upgraded a few parts and installed win7 and win8 (dual boot). There is no UEFI option in the win8 settings. I can access BIOS as normal - press F2 - and change boot order but my laptop seems to ignore that and boot Windows anyway !?#*?
How can this happen without UEFI? Please explain it to me because I cant get my head around it ..
Thanks in advance.

Only usb .. but before back when I only had win xp installed if I removed the hard drive from the boot order and there was no bootable device I would get the message 'Strike F1 to try again' etc. But now if I power off/power on again it boots the hard drive regardless.

Hi ali1ear,
This system is neither tested with Windows 7 or Windows 8. This computer has normal BIOS and not UEFI BIOS. Since this system came with normal BIOS, UEFI option will not be available on this system.
In case there is any issue with the system, let me know the exact issue to assist you further.

I removed the CMOS battery and replaced and boot order changes are now working properly.
Thanks.
