Is there a way to use either USB or HDMI for wired Ethernet? my inspiron has no rj45 connection.

Yes. Sounds like you just need a USB Ethernet adapter. There are many to choose from and they are sold in most stores that carry network interface cards (e.g. dell.com, walmart, etc.).
