9 cell in 6 cell dell studio laptop ?

Hi,

I bought a 6 cell battery with my Dell Studio 15 laptop (1555) . Now the battery has expired and I need to buy a new battery. I was wondering if I can use 9 cell battery in my laptop instead of the 6 cell?

What is your current charger?

Note that the 9 cell battery sticks outside of the laptop slightly and probably weighs a little more.

Hi mindstream,

The default adaptor  which came with the system is the 65 watt. For 9 cell battery its recommended to use 90 watt adaptor. If you happen to use the 65 watt adaptor it would work but it would take very long time for the battery to get charged  and also may impact the battery life.

Thank You

Roshan.

hi Roshan,

Thanks for the reply. I had one more doubt that whether I should get the 90W adapter for charging the 9 cell battery or will my current adapter be enough for it

I have the default one that came with studio 15 (1555 model). I believe it is a 56W or 60W charger. but the 9 cell I see is a 90W battery so I am guessing I need to get the 90W adapter for charging as well. correct me if I am wrong.
