Additional RAM Memory

I use Dell Inspiron 15 R (N 5010).
Currently it has factory fitted 2 X 2 GB RAM's ( 4 GB ) Memory.
I want to install it with either 1 X 8 GB and 1 X 2 GB RAM [or] 2 X 8 GB RAM Memory.

I want to equip it with Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB ( CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10 )

The System Info states that System Supported Memory is only 8 GB.
Could i continue with the above mentioned combinations or shall i go for 2 X 4 GB RAM Memory?

Hi asrc022,

Inspiron N5010 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz. The system info is correct. It supports a maximum of 8GB.

This system has 2 memory slot. Each slot supports upto 4GB only. So, the combination you need to use would be  4GB + 4GB.

You may want to try this website http://dell.to/12RAvDR which provides guaranteed compatible upgrades.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
