Dell D620 laptop display issues
Hello,
Have a Dell 620 laptop where the LCD display as well as external display don't seem to work suddenly (was fine till last week and no new software that I know was installed). I did the following tests too with no luck
1. Turn on your computer pressing key D button and check if will get some colors in your LCD, after turn off the computer -- No LCD color
2. Connect to external monitor and check - No display on external monitor as well.
3. Cant get to BIOS screen as well.
I see some comments about an video issue with these laptops and Dell probably had an extended warranty or so. Given I got his laptop for my daughter from her school district's surplus store at the start of this year may I know what options I have please.
Thanks

Hi dell620-4me,
I appreciate for the trouble shooting steps tried. I would like to know if there is any LED lights on the system or any sound (like beeps or start up sound) when the system is turned on.
I suggest that you shut the system down, remove the battery and disconnect the ac adapter, press and hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds. Now connect only the ac adapter and wait for 30 seconds and turn on the system. This will drain any residual charge in the capacitors.
Next run diagnostics on the system. Press and hold Fn key on the keyboard and power on the computer. This will run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system which may take around 5 minutes.
If Fn + Power button does not launch diagnostics, remove the battery and disconnect the Ac adapter. Next press and hold the Power button and connect the Ac adapter which will launch diagnostics.
Please reply to this post in case of any error message.

Hello Sujatha K,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I tried the following:
1. As my battery was pretty much drained I removed the battery, pressed the power on button for over 30 seconds and then connected to AC Adapter and let it sit for about 30 + seconds. After this pressed the Fn key and power on button. I do see the LED lights and hear beeps perfectly fine. After about 7 or 8 minutes (saw Red, Blue, Green and think White screens during this process) saw a screen which said Graphic test timed out and first time I pressed Y to continue further . At the end the system rebooted and went to my windows desktop too eventually loosing out on the image (started becoming grainy and then it was just lines)
2. Same test like above but this time I pressed R to retry during the test and in fact saw the color bars too but on restart saw no images.
3. Tried to repeat a third time but this time just hearing the beeps repeatedly even after about 20 mins, not seeing diagnostic screen.
Not sure what more to try.
Thanks a lot
