Error Code 2000-0151, HDD, 3E Smart Predictive Failure

Hello,

Today morning when I turn on my laptop, I got an error from Intel Rapid Storage that the laptop may fail and I must take a bacjup. I tried running Boot time Diagnostic and it gave me following message:

Error Code 2000-0151

Validation 116622

Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N W0VAY77L, Incorrect status = 3E

SMART Predictive Failure.

Please guide me if HD need to be replaced. My laptop is under warranty.

Hi navedalamalam,

2000-0151 error indicates your hard disk drive (HDD) has failed and may be nearing the end of its life. Please backup the data from the system if it’s booting up. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it. Then run the diagnostics again.

There's not much you can do at this point except replace the drive.  If you did not prepare a set of  recovery media when you received the system, be sure you contact Dell, as you will need one - they should supply one with the replacement drive if you're under warranty (if not, you should still be able to purchase a copy of the recovery media you'll need).

You may or may not be able to recover data from the drive -- to try, purchase a 2.5" drive enclosure and mount the failing drive into it.  Attach it to the system by USB once you have it up and running on a new drive -- you may be able to recover some or all of your data files from the drive.

Hello, I had the same problem but mine is not booting up it will black screen or sometimes get to the repair menu but if I get to the repair menu and start to try to repair it will say "Repairing Disk Errors. This may take more than an hour". That repair screen just goes on for 8+ hours

The hard drive has failed an needs to be replaced.  If the system is under warranty, call Dell with the exact error and they'll replace the drive.  If the system is out of warranty, post the complete model number (i.e., XPS L502x, Inspiron 5521, etc.) and someone can recommend a replacement drive.

Hi Molkars :emotion-2:

You run the Diagnostic tool on your computer ? If yes, you're getting the same error code 2000-0151 as others in this thread? If no, then I like to suggest you do run it.

1. Power off the computer

2. Power on computer, quickly start tapping the F12 key continuously. You should see diagnostic, report back any error code.

Any standard 2.5" 9.5 or 7 mm drive will work.

The drive can either be 9.5 or 7 mm in height;  the rotation speed is your choice.  Either 5400 or 7200 will work - so will a solid state drive if you want the best in performance you can get.
