Full Screen Display Problem
Hi Everybody
I have a Dell Latitude cPX, my video card is ATI rage mobility 8m and until recently everytime i turn on the laptop the display doesnt display a full screen it displays nearly half of it. For example, say full screen is 8 X 11, my laptop displays about 6 X 9 display as a reduced size.
Any help or tips or explaination why this is happening will be greatly apprieciated.
Thank You

Fn + F7 should stretch any resolution to fill your screen.
A better way would be to select Display Properties (from
a right-click menu on desktop) settings and select the
highest screen resolution available, if this requires you to
'scroll' off the edges to see all, then select a lower
resolution.

thanks art for your insight but im still getting the same problem.
when i go to check the max resolutuin in the ATI settings it always defaults to 800X600 which is almost half my screen when displayed but when sometimes i reboot my laptop and go back to the ATI settings which the max resolution changes the default to 1024x768 (which this resolution is perfect, it displays a full screen)
Now i dont know if its the software thats meesed up or the video card?
if anyone has an idea let me know :) ill be your friend for life LOL

to see what you get without your Video Driver (actually the 'default' Windows Driver), this will
probably be 640x480 resolution.
I would think that for best results, it would be important to first completely remove your
'installed' Video Driver before installing another one.
This should include running a Driver Cleaner {click here}.
Copy from above link:
"...Driver Cleaner Professional Editon is a program which helps you to remove parts of drivers that are left after uninstalling the old drivers. The program is for ATI, nVidia, Creative, Realtek, SIS, 3Dfx, S3 and more drivers. First you need to uninstall the drivers from the control panel, then reboot. After rebooting, run the program. ..."
This would be done in 'safe' mode. To install other than Dell Supplied Video Drivers, you also need to modify 'inf' files, see Welcome to LaptopVideo2Go.com for details.
I have rarely ever fooled with Video Drivers, got into trouble on Dimension
by following 'Dell Support' on updating its Video and took two days to correct.
I would search the Inspiron Video Board, they are more likely to have the
information you need than this Latitude Board.
