Inspiron 6400 Startup problem.

Hello, my laptop will restart when shut-down unless the battery and mains are removed.

When mains is plugged in it will start up straight away.

When it starts it alternates between a successful launch into Windows Vista and a BSOD with the following error:

CONFIG_LIST_FAILED

STOP: (0X00000073, 0X00000001, 0XC000017D, OXOOOOOO02, 0XF7169BB8).

Following the BSOD, power must be removed and then, when power is reapplied it will successfully boot into Windows.

If told to shutdown in Windows it does, but will instantly restart to the BSOD.

I have reinstalled software back to factory settings and tried removing each of its memory modules in turn, all to no avail.

Any ideas what the problem is?
