New Hard Disk Drive for Dell Inspiring 1545

Would a Seagate STBD1000100 2.5 Internal Drive be compatible with my Inspiring 1545?

Wee Yin,

The hard drive should work in the Inspiron 1545.

The Inspiron™ 1545 system uses Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drives. Data transfer rates of 150 MB per second offer a substantial speed increase over older PATA drives.

The Inspiron™ 1545 is offered with a configuration of 5400 rpm drives. The hard drive capacities are as follows:

80 GB 5400 RPM
160 GB 5400 RPM
250 GB 5400 rpm
320GB 5400 rpm
500GB 5400 rpm

Thanks for the confirmation.  I'll go ahead and purchase the HDD.

Wee Yin,

It should work on the computer, eventhough, Dell has only tested the 500 gb. You may also want to update the computers bios to the latest if you havent done so.

Will the 1TB drive be compatible too?

I put an SSD in mine but it was only 250 GBs.

In many cases, what might work would depend on the Bios, so you might check if there are any updates.
