Recovery CD for Latitude D520

I have a Latitude D520 laptop. Last week the laptop seems to cath a virus and now when I click All Programs - nothing shows up.

I have scanned the laptop with Symantec and also another virus removal tool and they cant seem to find anything wrong.

Bottomline - I need to reset the laptop to factory settings but dont have the recovery CDs anymore.

How do you suggest I do this.

Ctrl + F11 at bootup (XP)

On a working PC download a copy of the free version of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ . Copy the installer to a flash drive or CD-R.

Connect the infected laptop with an ethernet cable to your broadband router.

Use F8 at power-on to boot the infected laptop into "Safe Mode with Networking".

Insert the flash drive or CD and install the program. Decline the option concerning the trial of the full version. When (or if) the program launches then use the button on the option tab to check for updates.

Then run a full scan on the computer. And follow the instructions to clean the computer. It might take several hours to complete.

If you are successful then go to http://www.java.com and make sure you have the latest version of Java. Likewise check and update the version of Flash player used by Internet Explorer and check again using any other browsers you have installed. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Update your anti-virus and then run a full scan.

You could also try removing the HD and connecting it to a working compute with Malwarebytes installed, via a USB adapter, and scanning it from there.
