Reinstall OS on Inspiron1501

I have had to do an OS (XP Media Centre) re-install on an Inspiron 1501 laptop.

The install itself has worked fine but it is missing drivers for at least the Ethernet and Wireless devices and the High Definition Audio bus.

I expected at some point to be prompted for  the Dell Drivers and Utilities CD but that didn't happen and inserting it once the system is running does not seem to allow for drivers to be loaded in any way.

Has anyone had experience of this and have any suggestions?

Thanks

Partially solved it myself.

For future reference for others when you go to the Drivers section of the Drivers and Utilities Manager and see big ticks next to devices it does NOT mean that drivers are installed. Click on the item and it takes you to another screen from which you can install the drivers.

It still leaves me with the question as to whether I should install drivers for the CPU which already appears to be working.

I also still do not have a driver for the Base System Device? What is that and where ar the drivers?

Most likely, you did not install the Dell notebook system software or the chipset driver.  The order of driver installation is here:
