Replacing Vostro 3700 keyboard with 3500 keyboard?
Hi,
Specific keys of my Vostro 3700 keyboard are working intermittently (t, y, left shift, tab, backspace). I've followed the steps given on Dell Support, including cleaning around these with a can of compressed air, extracting the keyboard and cleaning out any dust or air, etc. That fixed the problem for about 2-3 days with everything working fine, but now the keys are back to working intermittently. So I was going to order a replacement keyboard.
Amazon.co.uk doesn't have a 3700 keyboard, but it does have a 3500 keyboard (product no. P5G12 NSK-DJF0U), which it states will work on the 3700 as well.
Is that correct?

Hi Scotch-writer,
The keyboard you found unfortunately is not the right keyboard for the Vostro 3700.
Vostro 3700 is a 17 inch system and the Vostro 3500 is a 15 inch system.
Vostro 3500 keyboard is completely different from the Vostro 3700 keyboard, because the number of keys in the Vostro 3700 is more compared to the Vostro3500.
Moreover, the Vostro 3700 keyboard size varies in comparison to the Vostro 3500 keyboard. Therefore, I would suggest that you don’t purchase the keyboard you found on Amazon.co.uk.
However, you will be able to purchase the right keyboard through Dell.

Hi Scotch-writer,
The keyboard that you saw on amazon.co.uk is a 87 keys keyboard while the one you have in the laptop is a 102 keys keyboard.
From the pictures above you can see that the numeric pad keys are missing from the 87 keys keyboard. When ordering the new keyboard look for a 102 keys keyboard.

Hi, thanks for both of your answers--it's really helpful. I've 'chatted' to Dell's Support & Sales team and although I'm not able to get a replacement keyboard from them, they have told me to contact Upgrade Options (www.upgrade.co.uk) to obtain one.
