Screen blacks out in vostro 1500
hi
i am facing a issue with my vostro 1500 laptop. when on ac power /ac with battery also. the screen goes black after 5-10 min.
although the laptop is still working.by looking closely one can easily make out that some content is there on screen.
the problem is also there when operated on battery but after two three restarts the screen goes on working.
when it blacks out there is way other than restart to bring it back.
i tried using external monitor also for display purposes,the external monitor keeps on working even while screen from laptop is black.
using fn+f8 brings it backs for a while ,but still goes balck after 5 min.
any suggestions what cud be the problem with my lappy.

If there's an external image, the problem is with the backlight or inverter - either should be a $100-150 repair out of warranty - you need an LCD repair specialist.

We have the exact issue with our Vostro 1500. We are running an Intel Integrated video controller. Interesting the problem started near to the date of your post.. our problem started August 14th, 09 ---- On first attempt call to Dell Support, we were told our service contract is expired (on March 5, 09) --- There is nothing they can do to assist. :emotion-9:
We can operate an external monitor to continue to use, however not the laptop display.
Any suggestions?
