The Lid sensor for inspiron 7720 SE is not working , should i replace it?

it all started after i changed my display hinge. if i close my laptop lid it wont go to sleep. I have also made all the changes in power setting but to no avail. I use ubuntu and windows 10 , in both the cases suspend in closed lid is not working .So my guess is something is wrong with the lid sensor can anyone tell me how to tackle this issue ? Also can anyone tell me location of the lid sensor.

The sensor is usually in the palmrest, and it's tripped by a magnet mounted in the display frame.  Did you dislodge either part when disassembling the system to change the hinge assembly?
