Vostro 1520 - Mass Storage Controller

Had enough of bsod so took a deep breath and re-installed Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate. Now the device manager tells me that the drivers for the Mass Storage Controller are not installed - can't remember seeing this before. Go to Dell support drivers site.. nothing obvious. Install everything that looks likely but still have the issue. Should I care? Machine is just out of warrenty so Dell want to charge me £56 to look into it... Does anyone have any ideas?
