cd drive no longer in Device Manager
Im not exactly sure what has happened but my cd drive is no longer listed in the Device Manager and therefore my laptop will no longer recognize cd's. Can anyone help me either reset my laptop back to a previous date or reinstall drivers for the cd drive.

Probably no driver to install. There is firmware but I doubt that would help. You would need to provide the full model name of your laptop and its operating system for us to provide specific driver info.
You could try reseating the device (pull it out and reinstall it).
In the Windows search box type system restore. Pick an earlier date to restore to.
Try posting on our Disk Drives discussion board. Tell them the model name etc.
