"No bootable devices found" - on TWO (count 'em -2!) new XPS 9350s

Just want to know if this has happened with anyone else...

I recently received 2 new XPS 9350s (16gb, 500mb SSD) and installed software on both. As a last step, I went to Dell Support Assist, had it scan the two computers, and installed the recommended 6 driver updates along with the bios update to v1.4.12.

BOTH rebooted to show "No bootable devices found". Lord Almighty!

Have there been ANY reports of something this catastrophic happening to others?

Check UEFI setup to make sure the system is set to UEFI mode and secure boot ON.  If those settings were changed, the system won't boot up.  F2 at powerup to check.

I think if you look around, you will find some threads about a bios update causing problems with M.2 PCIe drives.  Maybe it is the XPS 13 9360.

There are so many model numbers I can't keep them straight.

Yeah. No dice. Thanks for the thought!

"..so many model numbers..." Right! As the company IT guy, I've got 6 of 'em and keeping them straight is not trivial.

I DID come across the other posts (here and on other sites). Lots of partial answers and nothing that cracked this one. Preparing to send them back...

The 9360 folks seem to be narrowing in on the involvement of a Samsung SM961 M.2 drive.  Do you know what you have, or had?

Yeah, that's what I had. Not anymore. Had to move on to the rival HP.
