3 external monitors will not work with Windows 10 Latitude 7280
I recently upgraded from a Windows 7 laptop, to a new laptop with Windows 10.
Latitude 7280 Intel HD Graphics 620. Up to date drivers. Dell Universal Dock
Windows 7 laptop worked with 3 external monitors.
Windows 10 laptop will NOT work. Computer will not even recognize the 3rd monitor. It does not show up in the display settings.
By moving around the cables, I can get all combinations of 2 monitors to display, but never 1,2,3 all at once. Current cables are DVI-HDMI, VGA-DP, VGA-DP. Have also tried one DVI-HP instead of VGA-DP. Nothing works. If I use laptop monitor, that will display alongside 2 of the others.
Please help.
Thanks.
Gary

One further thought: Are you connecting the dock using the USB-A ("regular USB") connector or the newer USB-C connector? According to Page 4 of the dock's manual (here), you need to be using USB-C to get 3 displays, and that's preferable anyway since that would allow the dock to charge your 7280 while it's connected.

Which Dell Universal Dock are you using, specifically? Which specific release of Windows 10 are you using? If your dock model uses DisplayLink drivers, do you have the latest release installed from DisplayLink.com?

It does use DisplayLink. Drivers are current as far as I know.
(This website WILL NOT let me post the build info for Win 10!! It keeps deleting the response!)

I've tried to reply to this 4-5 times, and my response gets lost each time. Will try splitting up my response, or something.

I was going to suggest disabling the laptop's built-in panel before trying to detect and enable the third external panel since current Intel GPUs only handle 3 simultaneous independent displays, but that doesn't count displays connected via DisplayLink. If you're already running the latest DisplayLink drivers available directly from DisplayLink.com rather than Dell, I'm not sure what else to suggest, but I'll report back if anything comes to mind.
As for posts, this forum has a rather irritating behavior that if you're not already logged in while writing a reply, then when you click Post, you'll be prompted to log in....and then you get redirected somewhere else entirely and your post is gone. So make sure you're logged in before you even start a post.

Hi Ravens515,
Since you had tried some updates already try doing the drivers update in a sequence.
1. Chipset Drivers 1 - Intel Chipset Software Installation
2.Chipset Drivers 2 - Intel Management Engine Components Driver
3.Video Devices - Intel HD Graphics, NVIDIA or AMD Driver
4.Audio Drivers - Realtek HD Audio Codec
5.Network Drivers (LAN) - Intel Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device (vPro)
6.Network drivers (WLAN) - Airplane Mode
7.Network drivers (WLAN) - Intel WiFi/Bluetooth Link Drivers
8.Chipset Drivers 3 - ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor
9.Input Drivers - Dell Multi-touch Touchpad
10.Serial ATA Drivers - Intel Rapid Storage Technology Utility
If this still doesn't resolve the issue that you have check on the BIOS system configuration (When you see Dell Logo Press F2) if the multi monitor system is enabled.
If this still doesn't resolve the issue try to reseat the video card inside the laptop but if you needed further support for that you'll need to contact dell technical support for your concern.
Have a nice day!

That worked! Was using USB-A. Switched to USB-C and it worked!
Thanks.

Awesome! Well in that case, enjoy the added benefit of being able to charge your system via that USB-C cable rather than needing to plug a charger in separately. Although that then leads me to ask: How did your previous Windows 7 laptop work with 3 displays? Were you using connecting the dock to that laptop via USB-C and then you just decided to switch to USB-A with the 7280, or did your previous laptop drive 3 displays over USB-A even though the manual suggests that isn't possible?

Previous set up with Windows 7 was with a different laptop. This laptop was using one of those snap-in docking stations. So this is a whole new setup with the new laptop/Win 10/D6000.

Aha! Just for future reference, a piece of information like that would have been useful to mention upfront so that it's clear what variables have and have not changed between the working and non-working configurations. :)

I'm having the same issue. 7289 on a C docking station. I want to use 2 monitors and have my laptop screen be a 3rd monitor and the limit seems to be 2. I'm already using a USB C cable to connect it.

Greetings,
I tried to follow this thread and even posted a reply but it didn't seem to work.
I have a 7280 running Windows 7 Enterprise and have a LG 34UM58-P wide screen, high res monitor.
The monitor works wonderfully with my HP laptop but will not work at all with my Dell. It's a straight HDMI to HDMI connection, no docking station or any middle components.
Appreciate the help to troubleshoot and resolve it.
