After reinstall of W10, no USB-C monitors

We have a few Dell Latitude 5480. All using USB-C monitors such as Dell 2718D.

They all worked fine for a year. I reinstalled W10 on one of them using the recovery tool (because new user). Then windows update and the command tool (thru command it also got a BIOS/firmware update). All worked fine except for one thing: This computer and this one only no longer works with USB-C monitors. Before the reinstall everything worked fine, after the reinstall no USB-C monitors work.

When attaching a monitor it says something (translated inte english): 'The monitorconnection can be a monitor. Please check if your computer supports the Displayport unit you are connecting to.'

I'm not sure what to do or where the problem originates. Any ideas?

Still no idea what caused the persistent problem.

But after trying everything else entering BIOS and updating what should be an unrelated setting (AC power on) the laptop started working with USB-C monitors again
