Dell Latitude 5420 - BIOS 1.5.2 Released 4/20/21 - Breaks Dual Monitor function with D6000 dock.

Jump to solution

After updating the BIOS on our Dell Latitude 5420 laptops from BIOS 1.4.9 Release date 4/12/21 to latest version BIOS 1.5.2 it seemed to have broken the dual monitor functionality using the Dell D6000 docking units.

It also appears I cannot roll back 1.5.2 to 1.4.9 either.  So how am I suppose to resolve this issue.

DELL please provide me with an new BIOS Update.   Anyone else experienced this issue?

Greetings, I have found the solution to this issue.  It appears it's not the BIOS as was originally discovered.  It was the new DisplayLink Graphics Driver.  The newer version 9.3.3324.0 does not work.   Version 9.2.2335.0 Does!

So just remove DisplayLink Graphics Driver 9.3.3324.0 and install version 9.2.2335.0.

This solved our problem.  Hope it solves yours.

Myself and my college are experiencing the same thing after the bios update.

I even update updated the firmware on the D6000. Rebooted my machine. Removed the driver and reinstalled.

It will charge, and the Ethernet cable works showing it is hardwired.

Still will not pull up the monitors. Only have an pointer finger icon cursor in the middle of one monitor that is frozen but besides that it is completely black and the second monitor is showing completely black.

Dell please fix ASAP

After further review and research it's not the BIOS update that disables the D6000 dual monitor function, but the DisplayLink Graphics Driver Version 9.3.3324.0 is the culprit. Remove and install version 9.2.2335.0
