Dell Latitude 5420 and Dock WD19S External Display Issues

Dear all,

I'm having issue with wd19s dock stations. We have replaced 2 laptops last week with new Latitude. And everyday users complaining about external screen display issues. Dock firmware and Laptop drivers up to date. But I couldnt obtain the exact issue on it.

Do you have any idea about it?0-02-05-09c9d318d17d4b7afc67c2a52fcc7c957491645665554dc88f1675c993a6e5ef_da49c7164f6dbe56.jpg0-02-05-ba8c3035cc59acc99808e8dbbbbd351d453fc2efc1788e9f88052d75f19b93d5_1d25dfb65ca62733.jpg

@yavuzer I know this is an older post, but did you ever get a resolution on this?  I'm having similar issues with the exact same setup by the looks of it.

Latitude 5420, WD19, Dell 24" monitors, Display Port cables direct to monitor from dock, one screen becomes fuzzy, moves if you move the cable (replaced cable and swapped dock, same issue).

I have updated drivers, updated BIOS, swapped the docking station, replaced cables, any thoughts?

Update=Resolved-This seems to have been resolved with the addition of the drivers for the monitors.

Looks like a sync problem. What is the resolution you have set on the monitor. I think the 5420 has a built in Intel 3000 GPU. Did you update your Intel driver? You might be exceeding the resolution or refresh rate for the graphics card. What Dell monitor are you using?

It might be a simple issue of selecting a lower screen resolution or refresh rate.

Although not about the Dell unit, this article may be helpful:

Hi Sfortin,

Thanks for your reply.
Resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 which is monitor supporting it. Monitor model is P2214H. I havent checked refresh rate but i'll check it. All  drivers updated on command update app and windows update screen.

@yavuzer  This shouldn’t matter, but how are you connecting the displays to the dock, meaning what dock outputs, what type of cables, any adapters/dongles involved?

Oh, thanks - I just went on the Dell site and looked at the specs. I thought this was an older model.

I appreciate you pointing that out. No desire to send the poster down a rabbit hole.

@sfortin  Pretty sure you’re looking at the specs of the very old Latitude E5420, which wouldn’t even be able to use the WD19S. The Latitude 5420 is a current generation model.

We using displayport on monitor and dock station as well. no adapter between dock and monitor.

Also updated with latest bios here.   But happened again. I just changed monitor driver with generic driver i'll follow it with that.
