Dell Latitude 5580 ALPS Touch Pad Diagnostics Popup

It only happens once in a great while but it started again today. I mostly only every use the 5580 at my desk with a Bluetooth keyboard and randomly when using it or the USB mouse the ALPS Touch Pad Diagnostics app or popup will open. Is my closed laptop sending phantom touch pad touches?

Re: Dell Latitude 5580 ALPS Touch Pad Diagnostics Popup

I am also having this issue.  The information provided in the link does not work for us as our computers (mine is a Precision 7520) are not using Synaptics driver for our touch pads.  The driver is listed as an ALPS Electronics driver and as such there is no "SynTP" service to be modified.

This is extremely annoying as I am using a Logitech Keyboard/Mouse with multi-device support and use the CTRL key when I need to move between devices.  Every time the CTRL key is held, the diagnostic window pops up.  Please advise.
