E7440 A23 Bios gone?

A few weeks ago, I upgraded my BIOS on the A23. Now checking for new BIOS updates..  I found it has gone without comment? The last to download is A22.

Here is A23 from the webcache

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:AD5vbRGokQoJ:https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails%3FdriverId%3DK2FTT+

What does that mean, downgrade recommended? Why does a released BIOS disappear from the webpage?

PS: This device still has hangups what we believe has to do with low WIFI signal strength, thus I hoped a BIOS fix would be available.

BIOS Updates were issued to address an Intel Security flaw, some more details here:

http://www.dell.com/support/contents/uk/en/ukdhs1/article/product-support/self-support-knowledgebase/software-and-downloads/support-for-meltdown-and-spectre

Unfortunately Intel's updated firmware to fix this flaw had a series of side issues and the BIOS Updates that Dell released with this firmware have hence been pulled.

Intel and Dell are working on resolving the issue and will release a new update.

Thx for the reply, so I guess downgrade recommended.

I still wonder, why they don't mention it on their webpage, this is seriously confusing. Or just rerelease A22 as A24...

PS: Is there somewhere a list of the issues A23 had? Just to know the issues we were facing where because of this, or there is yet another (probably can also be anything at fault anywhere in Linux)

They need to fix the issue... I guess there will be an A24.

I don't advise attempting the downgrade, many who have bricked their motherboard. It happened to me on my XPS 9365.

Already happened, luckily I didn't brick the E7440, testing if the random hangups are at least on the "seldomly" level as before, instead of "all the time after a few minutes".

Yep same for me, I have A23 and since then I have been occasional blue screens. I can and should not downgrade to A22, to dangerous. Just wondering way dell is dragging their feet on a new bios. I understannd they have a zillion to support  but this one, guessing also...will be a A24 . Mine is work laptop, so it is pretty important to have stable one. Please address this and have new bios soon...
