E7440 not booting up - battery 47Wh versus 53Wh

Trying to find out the cause of my E7440 not booting up and hopefully to fix it.

Symptoms: Press on Power Up button but the light went off after 13secs, no boot up sound, nothing.

Methods tried:

1. Press F8 after pressing power up button but nothing happens.

2. Check power source, adaptor and all seems ok - there is a light at the plug.

3. Thought it was the battery problem and ordered a replacement battery from Dell.

The new battery is 53Wh instead of the original 47Wh but it still does not boot up. Is it the wrong battery?

Or could it be the motherboard? How do i troubleshoot?

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Unplug the system, and disconnect the battery.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.

Try powering up on AC only - if it will, but won't with the battery disconnected, the battery is the problem.  If it won't power up on AC only, the mainboard is bad.

Thank you @ejn63 for your help, the mainboard is the culprit. Time to shop again!
