Hi,

I'm in the search for a new laptop and those models are very appealing to me,  you can easily find them second hand and they seem to be a very good value.

One thing I am wondering though, the thunderbolt port is optional, and if not present there is a usb-c port labeled as displayport over usb c. I was wondering if those models could also be charged over usb-c or is thunderbolt necessary?

It would be very neat to be able to just dock the laptop to a usb-c hub with a single cable and be provided with charge, video out and usb ports.

@thierrybeccaro  Yes, the Latitude 7x80 and 7x90 systems all support charging and video output over USB-C as standard.  Thunderbolt is optional.
