Update on XPS 13/15 2016 Developer Edition availability

Any news on the availability for any of the new XPS machines in a Developer Edition?

And do you know exactly what specifications will be used? I.e. 13? 15? Ram/screen/etc.?

Thanks, Phil.

Will it be 13 or 15? And will it be available in EU in the next 10 days? I need to get new laptop for work, and i don't want to buy new MacBook.

Thanks for the response. Could you be more specific? And do you have any concrete dates?

Hi George,

Thanks for the update, can't wait to get my hand on the new edition !

Do you know if there's any chance you'll do the i7 / 16GB build with the full HD display ? I got no use for QHD and would rather get a longer battery life.

Best regards,

Romain

Alas, we have to work within the constraints of our product lifecycle process, so even though our Ubuntu image is ready to load onto systems in our factories, it takes us some time to make the XPS 13 Developer Edition available for sale.

Great to hear there will be 16GB version.  Can you give any info on whether the 15'' version is the XPS 15 or the Precision 5510 which was hinted at earlier in another thread?

I sent an email out earlier today asking about when the Precision 5510 will be available online with Ubuntu. I believe it should already be available for sale with Ubuntu offline (phone or account rep).

The XPS line has a fixed set of configurations we can choose from, and the changes to those configurations we are able to make does NOT include 16GB i7 boards in FHD chassis.

However, the Precision 5510 WILL be available in more configurations since it's a Precision system and that product line does things differently. The possible configurations there include a matte FHD display and 16 or 32GB of RAM.

Awesome news that you guys are working on it.

Can we at least though get a time window on when the product is gonna be/might be available?

I was really looking into the Dell XPS 13 and I just found out there also exists a developer version with Linux preinstalled so I'd love to buy one.

1) Can someone estimate when it is going to be available?

2) I've seen many reviews where developers were complaining about the keybord. Has something been done to improve the handling of the keys? This is really important as I'm buying it to do a lot of coding on the go

3) Can we please get normal arrow keys on this next version? Those small up/down arrow keys are just horrible. It's so hard to use them and makes coding a real ***. After all, we jump a lot from line to line in code.

4) Will we get it in europe, and if so when?

Thank you for your time
