XPS 13 (9360) -- Kubuntu 16.10 unusable slow!

Hi all,

I've just did a factory reset and upgraded to Ubuntu 16.10 which worked fine.

Afterwards I installed the kubuntu-desktop because I like KDE Plasma better.
After that I noticed that everything is unusable slow.

I try to start the konsole terminal (take literally 30 seconds to start)
I type in "sudo apt-get install" which takes 1 minute .....

I haven't noticed this behaviour on (K)ubuntu 16.04 ...
Anyone else noticed this behaviour or know how to troubleshoot this?

The reason I upgraded to 16.10 was that I needed a newer version of the NetworkManager which sadly wasn't available in 16.04

So I kinda don't want to go back to 16.04, but having this immense slowless really forces me to go back to 16.04 because working like this is not possible at all :(

I'd really appreciate any help here...
thanks,
theresa

I also prefer KDE, but in my case I run Kubuntu 14.04 on both my desktop and my Precision laptop, so I haven't actually experienced KDE5 yet.

Having said that... is this KDE-specific? i.e., does it still run fine in Unity (assuming you haven't removed it yet)? You could even try running KDE apps (e.g. Konsole) in Unity, to narrow down the problem. Maybe it's some KDE Plasma / KWin settings related to desktop effects?

Just some ideas there, sorry I can't be more specific, as I don't really know KDE5.

Is it the same behavior on live USB? Can you try KDE Neon (it has latest KDE version)?
