Conexant Modem Driver for Karmic

Hello dear friends,

Dell Supported modem driver doesn't work on Ubuntu Karmic. After installing the driver, the computer complains about hsfconfig command. More detailed info can be found here:

Any suggestion?

Cheers,

Habib

Just 1 question, does your network interface work? If so I suggest that u connect it through that and then go to:

Systems (tag) and on the second page Hardware Drivers icon.

After clicking on that it gives u options on the missing hardware drivers you need.

Please install and tell me if that worked.

It worked for my wireless card on my Dell.

I think the new Ubuntu does not have any propriety drivers as default and you need to get hooked on the net to install them.

I had the same problem when changing from 9.04 to 9.10

I do hope that was useful and if there is any way else I could help please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear HungryWolf,

Hardware Drivers icon doesn't show anything in my Inspiron 6000 laptop. Also, it doesn't depend on if Dell driver is installed or not: In both cases, nothing is shown...

Cheers,

Habib

The only other link I can give you is http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/

I'm sure that you can get something similar there. The problem is I don't actually know what chip-set you are  using.

I hope this would be of some help.

Dear Hungry,

The problem with linuxant drivers is that their bandwidth is limited to 14.4KB...

Some guy in the ubuntuforums have said that he solved the problem and wants to upload the updated driver...

Can't wait,

Habib

Finally my problem solved ;)

Please visit the link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1308328

By the way, Is it better that Dell looks at the code and updates its driver?

Thanks,

Habib
