NVIDIA GT 555M not recognized by Windows 8
I recently was troubleshooting a fan issue after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and deleted the GT 555M from my system configuration . Windows 8 no longer recognizes the graphics unit and drivers will not install since they cannot see the option. The only display device recognized is the Intel HD.
Any suggestions as to how to restore it?

Hi benflorida,
The Dell XPS L502X offers the NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M and GT 540M as discrete video options. You can load the BIOS defaults on your computer by following the steps below:
Once you restart your computer, go to 'Device Manager' and scan for hardware changes:
Check if the video card gets listed. Another step you can try is to install the Intel HD graphics drivers first then install the Nvidia graphics card driver and see if it works.
You can install the driver for Intel HD graphics from link: http://dell.to/UPmT4q
Link to download Nvidia driver: http://dell.to/ZVTt6C
Steps to download drivers:
Please share the findings.

The driver was no longer on the PC so this idea did not work. Unable to load the driver because the driver load program could not see the hardware.
Answer that fixed the problem was to Reload Windows 8. A compatable driver was in the package and broght the graphics card to a state where the NVIDIA driver would load. Also when the system was reloaded, upgraded originally from Windows 7, the WIDI function works with no issues.
Had to reload some of the software and drivers but it was worth the effort to see a clean install and functional system. Fan problem went away as well.
Thanks for the ideas.
