Optiplex 755 + 2208WFP Display Fedora 7

I have an Optiplex 755 runnimg Fedora Core 7.  I purchased a Dell

2208WFP display which is capable of 1680x1050 pixels.

The video "card" is the "Integrated Graphic Controller".

How should I configure X to use this new higher resolution?

settings -> display settings  (aka system-config-display from command prompt) should let you change your resolution

xorg.conf specifies the "vesa" driver.

I tried changing this to "i810" but X refuses to

load "i810" because the info it receives from

the video card is not consistent with "i810".

The driver for "i810" is on the machine

in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/i810-drv.so.

Replying to my own reply, but...

The "intel" driver will permit 1680x1050.

xorg.conf must have the Monitor section.

It must specify the hsync that can only be satisfied

by 1680x1050.

This also works with a Vostro 200.
