Update Thunderbold firmware without Windows on Latitude 7480

Hello

I have some issues with my Latitude 7480 and TB16 dock. I'd like to update the Thunderbold firmware but I can't find a way to install http://www.dell.com/support/home/fr/fr/frdhs1/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=4KCK2&dgc=SM&cid=952&lid=spr1571397204&linkId=52552238 without Windows.

The page says it works from DOS, but it failed from FreeDOS saying "this program cannot run is DOS mode".

I tried passing the .exe file to the flash update utility in the BIOS but it didn't want of that file. I successfully installed the BIOS update from that utility, but that bundle doesn't contain the TB firmware unfortunately.

How are we supposed to update the TB firmware without windows?

Thanks

I have just done a bit of research about this, and it turns out that Dell had helped out the Arch community on this front.

Try the instructions on this page, replacing the model ID# with yours, and extracting and using the matching .bin file from Dell's .exe file:
