Installing Nvidia GT640M graphics drivers on ubuntu 12.04 64 bit on Dell inspiron 7420

Hi all,

I have purchased Dell inspiron few days back with Nvidia GT640M graphics card. 

Now I want to install supporting drivers for ubuntu 12.04 64 OS but unable to do so.

I tried all effort using ubuntu forums. But nothing solves the problem.

Once I install nvidia-current drivers from linux developers or from nvidia website, my resolution goes to ~600x600 something like.

I am forced to delete then xorg.conf.

Please help if anyone have encountered this problem or any resolution.
