Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent (DSIAPC) High CPU Usage

We are seeing significant CPU increases on all devices with the above installed for use with SCCM.

We are seeing the same behaviour on multiple versions 1.7.9.1 and 1.8.4.1.

Has anyone else seen the same behaviour?

Does anyone else even use this with SCCM for updating drivers/BIOS?

I did some digging, but I didn't find any information that seemed relevant. I talked to a specialist friend of mine as well, and this wasn't something he'd heard of. With that in mind, the recommendation I can give would be to contact the phone support team to get assistance in looking at it more thoroughly than we can in the community.

Thanks Dylan. SRN 1025350603.

If you could help get it to the correct team i would appreciate it.

It looks like my response didn't post yesterday.

There's not a mechanism for me to get you in contact with the support team in your region. You would need to be the one to call-in for assistance. Our support teams are set up to take cases from certain channels, and I don't have your contact information, anyway.

Hopefully, whatever this gremlin is, it's fixed without too much trouble.

Yes, we are currently seeing a spike in CPU, particularly Windows Update (SVChost.exe).  After further investigation by looking through the Windows Update logs, we see the Dell drivers are being scanned for applicability over, over and over again.  We will try to upgrade the DSIAPC client from 1.7.1.1 to latest in hopes of resolution.  We have engaged Microsoft support but will now engage Dell Support as well.

Hi,

the problem does still exist with the actual version. Did anyone find  a solution here?

Hi @DELL-Joey C ,

we use SCCM 2002 with agent 1.8.8.0 and 1.8.9.1. Systems used for testing are Latitude E7240, 5510 and 5300. There seems to be high load on processes svchost.exe and WmiPrvSE.exe - according to wuahandler.log the software update scan cycle is started over and over again.

We also observed that in softwarecenter install status stays in "reboot required" or "installed" even after hours and several reboots - these enries under updates should vanished shortly after installation instead.

BR,

Hi @tjacobs42,

Thanks for letting me know the system that you're installing the agent on. With due to the structure of the forum, it's best recommended if you need help on the issue, you can reach out to some of the peeps over on the neighboring forum here https://dell.to/2SauhxF. It's better to reach out to a client specialist to help out.

Keep in touch.
