Dell Venue 8 5830 factory restore error 0x4001100200001005
hi,
I'm trying to factory restore 8" tablet, dell 5830. I made a backup image of the drive 3 years ago and I remember being able to restore it at that time. Since then I reformatted the drive and was running windows 10x32.
I want to restore it back to the original state now and I'm getting error 0x4001100200001005, to contact dell support. The tablet is untouched, just the way I received it. I read something on incompatibility issues if I changed the hd but this isn't the case.
Why am I getting this error and how to fix it?
thank you!

Hi jackmi,
Thanks for posting.
Have you tried using Dell's dual usb\otg charging cable, plugged into dv8, plugged USB charging cable, inserted jump drive with recovery image that you created with Windows 8.1, booted into bios by holding power plus volume down then releasing power button and then releasing volume. Select boot menu and change boot priority to USB then reboot and recovery images will prompt you to load.

I don't have the otg adapter with ability to charge but the battery was at 100% when I used my regular otg cable with usb stick connected to it. I did exactly the steps you described.
Back then I created the dell factory image and I also made a windows 8.1 pro x86 image and this one works fine. For anyone interested in creating an image that will load windows into this tablet without the need for a keyboard or mouse should see this post: scroll to post #47 - is what I did.

But still, I would like to restore it to its original state.
thanks

I believe it needs to be hooked to the AC charging circuit before doing the restore.

It did not need that.
I was playing with it and it comes out the dell did not like the usb stick I was using. I used another one, format, made bootable, copied the image and voila.
thanks for your help.
