Dell Latitude 5175 tpm device is not detected, TPM fehlt im Bios nach Update

Hallo, es tut mir leid, einen älteren Thread kommentieren zu müssen, aber ich habe umfangreiche Erfahrung mit demselben Problem und kann Ihnen weitere Informationen mitteilen. Außerdem spreche ich kein Deutsch und benutze Google Translate, also entschuldige ich mich, wenn meine Formulierung etwas umständlich ist.

Mit Ihrem Latitude 5175 oder mit der Dell-BIOS-Datei ist nichts falsch. Dieses Problem wird durch einen einfachen Tippfehler verursacht, der jemandem bei Dell unterlaufen ist – ein Komma wurde versehentlich für die Versionsnummer des BIOS-Updates vom 19. Oktober 2020 (Version 1.7.2) in Dells Treiber-/Systemaktualisierungssystem eingegeben. Fälschlicherweise wurde diese Bios-Update-Version vom Oktober 2020 irgendwie als „1.7,2“ mit einem Komma nach der 7 anstelle einer Dezimalzahl/einem Punkt eingegeben. Dieser Fehler führt dann dazu, dass das Dell Support Assist-Treiberaktualisierungstool annimmt, dass unter den verfügbaren Aktualisierungsdateien eine Version „2“ verfügbar ist (weil das fehlerhafte Komma dieses Aktualisierungssystem nun glauben lässt, dass sowohl eine Version 1.7 als auch eine Version 2 verfügbar ist aufgrund der Kommateilung "1.7,2" verfügbar und als solches wird Ihnen das Treiberaktualisierungssystem nun fälschlicherweise und auf unbestimmte Zeit mitteilen, dass Sie ein Bios-Update verfügbar haben, und Sie ermutigen, dumm/gefährlicherweise eine Bios-Version zu installieren, die jetzt fünf Updates alt ist .Die aktuell neueste BIOS-Version ist 1.13.0, aber Sie werden dies nie erfahren, es sei denn, Sie aktualisieren den BIOS-Treiber selbst manuell.

Ich habe dies tatsächlich etwa ein Jahr lang ignoriert und dann vor etwa einem Monat erneut versucht, Dell zu kontaktieren, und es war die gleiche Erfahrung. Viele Stunden wurden am Telefon damit verbracht, sich mehrfach in einer fremden Sprache anzuschreien und mich zu bitten, ihnen Geld für erweiterten Support zu zahlen, wenn mit meinem Gerät alles in Ordnung ist. Hello, sorry to comment on an older thread but I have extensive experience with this same issue and have further information to share with you.  Also, I do not speak German and am using Google Translate so I apologize if my wording is a little awkward.

There is nothing wrong with your Latitude 5175 or with the Dell bios file.  This issue is being caused by a simple typing error made by someone at Dell - a comma was accidently typed by mistake for the version number of the 19 October 2020 bios update (version 1.7.2) in Dell's driver/system update system.  Incorrectly, somehow this one October 2020 bios update release was entered as "1.7,2" with a comma after the 7 instead of what should have been a decimal/period. This error then causes the Dell Support Assist driver update tool to think that there is a version "2" available among the available update files (because the erroneous comma now makes this update system think there is a version 1.7 available as well as a version 2 available due to the comma splitting "1.7,2" and as such now the driver update system will incorrectly and indefinitely tell you that you have a bios update available and will encourage you to stupidly/dangerously install a bios version that is now five updates old.  The current latest bios version is 1.13.0 but you will never know this unless you manually update the bios driver yourself.

Take a look at the update information page for the 1.7.2 bios file itself and see where there is a comma incorrectly typed in for the version number. Even if you let the automatic driver updates install the old bios version it is telling you to install, it will still never be happy and will forever tell you there is a new version available to install because you will have installed version 1.7.2 and the system still thinks there is a version "2" ready to be installed when that is not the case.  This small typing error is actually a big deal as it is encouraging users to downgrade their bios to a now very outdated version which not only leaves users vulnerable to the issues and potential security flaws that have been fixed in newer bios file releases but also it is generally not a good idea to downgrade system bios, especially by five versions.

I brought this problem to Dell's attention over a year ago and spent many hours on the phone with completely incompetent people in India who wanted me to pay them for advanced support because my warranty is expired as this device is now quite old and they could not understand that there was nothing wrong with my system but that there is in fact something wrong with their stupid update system and that they needed to fix the problem on their end.  I spoke to multiple supervisors. They made me share my screen with them.  They made me email them screenshot photos of the Support Assist update webpage and desktop app. Their final conclusion was that I should just ignore or uninstall the Support Assist application and also to not go to the Driver Update section on the Dell Support website.  This is so stupid and is not a solution. Why can't someone take five seconds and delete a comma and input a period? Why are their engineers even bothering to make new bios update files then if their system is just going to incorrectly keep telling me to "update" my bios to a very outdated version?  I did in fact ignore this for about a year and then once again tried to contact Dell about a month ago and it was the same experience.  Many hours were spent on the phone listening to multiple yell at each other in some foreign language and asking me to pay them money for advanced support when there is nothing wrong with my device.  Supervisors were involved, multiple days spent on this. They called me back, sent emails, wasted so much time when they should just simply fix a small typing error.  This whole experience has left me so frustrated with Dell in general and after 20 years of purchasing many Dell products I refuse to do so ever again.  Incompetent idiots.
