1905FP Soundbar

I want to buy the 1905FP LCD Display but I can´t find wich soundbar is compatible with this monitor. A few months ago there was the AS500 soundbar with 14 watts but now I can´t find it anymore. Is the AS501 the replacement? Seems it only has 10 watts. Is it compatible with this monitor?

I´ve been searching dell´s site for a couple of hours and can´t find the answer. I found de AS501 and AS501PA and seems like the second comes with the transformer and the first one takes the energy from the back of the 1905FP.

Thanks in advance for any answer that can help.

Yah, it looks like the AS501 replaced the AS500 in Dell's catalog. Pretty much any Dell monitor is compatible with "the soundbar" and that seems to mean either one. And all that "compatible" means is it will clip to and hang from the bottom of the monitor.

That being said, I can't see using them for anything other than a work monitor as they are speakers firmly entrenched in the 'not very good' category and still require a soundcard to drive them. Some people seem to think you connect them to the monitor and you are good to go.

You'd be better off buying some 'real' speakers for any kind of home computer setup, IMHO.

Thanks rose_h but what I want is the soundbar, not a couple of speakers. I was looking for the old 14 watts soundbar AS500 but reading the posts I have no other choice than go with the AS501.

I wanted to ask Dell directly but didn't find a technical-questions-mail.

Many thanks to both for answer.

I have the 5650 speaker 5.1 surround set up which I truly enjoy.  I found it neccessary to reduce your

bass to around 25% or distortion will be objectionable.

I already have a pair of speakers.

I recently saw the 5650 selling for about $46. It has center bar four satillites and a very nice subwoofer. Not what you want right now but maybe you'd like in the future. Probably the biggest problem to a computer 5.1 surround is mounting rear speakers. I have a 6' utility cabinet to the rear of my chair and hinged a 1x3" x 54" long trim board. I used plastic clamps, 2 on each speaker hanging downward.
