2407WFP, Windows 7, Card Reader

the card reader of my 2407 wfp display worked fine with windows xp. With windows 7, card reader does not work. there seems to be no driver on the dell website. i downloaded the vista driver, it consists of these files:
2407wfp.cat
2407WFP.ICM
2407WFP.INF
the installation instructions by dell seems to work only for vista. does anyone know if and how i can get my 2407 card reader running with these files under windows 7?

The 2407WFP was only validated for Windows XP/Vista. In theory but not tested, the card reader might work in Windows 7 if connected like this =

Computer DVI out port --> DVI to DVI cable --> 2407WFP DVI in port
Computer USB port --> USB upstream cable --> 2407WFP USB upstream port

The driver is 2407WFP.INF

* Open the Device Manager
* Click the icon left of Monitors
* Double click the monitor listed
* Click the Driver tab
* Click the Update Driver button
* Click No, not at this time
* Click Next
* Dot Install from a list or specific location
* Click Next
* Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install
* Click Next
* Click Have Disk
* Click Browse and navigate to where the 3 files are residing
* Click the monitor inf file
* Click Open
* Click OK
* Click Next
* Click Finish
* Now the Device Manager- Monitors should show 2407WFP

And what about the compatibility mode? I followed the steps above, card reader still doesn't work.

Do the USB downstream ports on the 2407WFP work?

Usb stick or external usb harddrive works in the 2407 usb slot. But not the card reader.

Windows explorer shows the drives, e.g. card reader. But when I doubleclick them, windows explorer starts a progress bar in the address line. But that progress never reaches 100%, and the cursor remains as rotating circle (sandglass). I can only kill the window by force.

So the 2407WFP USB downstream ports function in Windows 7. And the card reader drive letters are seen by Windows 7. So it appears that the chipset drivers installed by Windows 7 are working. Not sure why the drive letters are not opening.

I deactivated the card reader devices now, so that they don't show up as dead drives in the explorer.

You know, I have a 3007WFP and a 2407WFP. Both have card readers, and neither work in Windows 7 (just the card reader parts don't work). And while I've read the above posts and attempted to get this working, of course it doesn't. The 30" monitor in particular is very expensive. Yes I bought it in 2007, but Windows 7 came out only two years later.

It is not a question of "difficult". It is a question of policy. We only support the operating systems listed in the User's Guides.
