2408WFP Continued

The thread "2408WFP rev A01 is out, but what are the changes?" has gotten too long to manage. I am locking that thread and any new comments should posted here.

Summery

A new firmware version of the 2408 was released. As the monitors work their way through the supply chain it will become more and more likely that you will receive a version A01 monitor when you order new.

For those getting replacements, all refurbished monitors in service stock should have the new firmware. If you get a new exchange there is still a chance it will be A00 but that should diminish over time.

The new firmware addresses:

  1. Input lag.
  2. Not coming out of standby with some video cards.
  3. Changes the Sharpness settings to increments of 10 rather then 25.

Thank you for your patients through all of this, believe me it's been as frustrating for me as it has been for many of you.

How do I determine the current firmware on my 2408WFP?  I'm experiencing some bleeding on the right side of the display, and the monitor came with a 4 year warranty.  I'd just like to make sure I don't already have the Rev A01 firmware, thanks.

I spent a lot of time and effort to check out the 2408WFP.  Dell have not taken the community's concerns seriously so I'll be taking my money elsewhere!  The problems were clearly highlighted by many people and as a first time buyer I was impressed with their keen desire to stay loyal to Dell and have them sort out the problems.  That was over 7 months ago and although Dell have come up with a fix (Rev A01) to the firmware - it's effectively only available in the States!  Europe still has loads of dodgy A00 machines in the supply chain and the resellers are bulging with stacks of A00 machines being sold at reduced prices.  Dell, you are looking at a PR disaster.  I'm off to look at the LG range and won't be troubling this forum again.

on mine, i saw a REV A 01 written on a tag located on the back's lower left corner below the DVI-1 input.

the firmware should be written on the box and on the monitor's card (tag with all the part numbers etc...) If you can;t locate that you can also check out the sharpness settings on your monitor, if it is adjustable in increments of 25 then you probably have a rev. A00. If you can adjust sharpness in increments of 10 then you are the lucky owner of a rev. A01.

Hmm I just ordered yesterday a 2408WFP here in Switzerland. I really hope to get a new revision...

And I just saw that the screen is in the USA for around 520US$ available, while I payed some 760US$ here in Switzerland for the same.

If I would get an old revision, is there some hope to trade it for a new one?

Thanks,

pato

My screen was delivered today :)
The box has some bumps, but I hope it will work (can test it in around 3 hours).

It's a A01 model :) Woohoo!

Anyone else have the problem where the bottom left corner of the screen is purple during the windows login screen and the left most 2-3 inches of the monitor are brighter than the rest of the monitor?

I am on my second new 2408wfp and do not want a refurbished nor another with the same issue.

I'm just wondering what exactly the nature of this power save mode recovery problem is, as I bought myself a new ATI card a week ago (coming from nvidia). When Resuming from standby the monitor flashes 3 or 4 times, before it stabilizes, I was already wondering if this was normal, I also noticed that this stresses my pc, flac/wavpack playback (winamp) gets interrupted for example. Any thoughts on this?

Hi, I have the same screen flash problem with my UltraSharp DVI output when it wakes up from power saving mode.  Have you found any solutions or got any feeback?
