3007WFP, XPS 15-9560, HDMI to DVI-D cable, 1280x800
I have a brand new XPS 15-9560 laptop and I'm trying to connect it to an older 3007WFP via an HDMI to DVI-D cable. The operating system is Windows 10. Despite trying different cables, the resolution choices when connected are limited to 1280x800, whereas the monitor and the laptop should be able to support 2560x1600. Can anyone provide help?

The 11 year old 3007WFP is an "auto" sensing monitor. If it senses SL (Single Link) anywhere in the chain (ports, cables), it will only do 1280x800 60Hz. The 3007WFP was only validated to do 2560x1600 60Hz when connected directly to a computer video card DVI-D DL out port, using a DVI-D DL to DVI-D DL cable. Any other combination of ports or cables could result in the 3007WFP not "sensing" DVI-D DL and reverting to 1280x800 60Hz.

Hi Chris.
Thanks for your response. Obviously you have no control over the cable I purchased, but are you aware if the HDMI out of the DELL XPS 15 (9560) laptop is DL compliant? If I know that it is, at least I'll know that the cable is the problem.
Also, is there any way of connecting the USB 3.1 Type C port of the XPS to the 3007? My understanding is that it supports Displayport 1.2.

All we have on the 9560 HDMI port is that it is version 1.4. If it supports 2560x???? it would be considered DL.
We never tested USB 3.1 Type C port to this 11 year old monitor. No idea if it will work.
