3008wfp hi-res not scaling correctly

I purchased a like-new 3008wfp today from a local company who ordered one too many for their office. Unfortunately, the driver/software CD was not available. The monitor works perfectly at 1920x1080, but higher resolutions seem to not be scaling correctly so that text is distorted and jagged and unreadable.

I searched Dell for the latest drivers and only found one 160kb file, which installed fine. My device manager now recognizes the 3008wfp as my monitor and the driver info says Driver Date: 7/17/2007 and Driver Version: 1.0.0.0. However, I have the same problem at resolutions above 1920x1080. Is there something else I can download and install to fix this?

Edited to add: My video card is an ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 with Driver Version 8.541.0.0 from 9/27/2008.

I am seeing the EXACT same problem with my new 3008WFP when running at the highest resolutions.

I have the same problem. I discovered it was that Dell sent me a single link dvi cable instead of the dual link one they should have sent. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DVI_Connector_Types.svg to see which you have.

After multiple WORTHLESS tech support calls to DELL, I finally gave up and started searching the web for someone that had had my same problem.

Sure enough, Dell shipped the WRONG CABLE with the monitor.

I went out and bought a high end DUAL DVI-D cable, and the problem VANISHED instantly.

All,

If we cannot provide a DVI-D Dual Link cable (for whatever reason), you can get one here or here.

I got tired of the run around I was getting from tech support at dell, and just went to Best Buy and bought a cable.

As soon as I plugged in the new cable, the problem was solved.

Guys I have exactly same problem but with some feature - I've got single-dvi cable with my monitor too, then I go to the local computer store and buy dual-dvi link cable for ~$13, manufactured by Defender, but resolutions highest then 1920x1200 still not scaling correctly. Is this problem with the cable? I sure my videocard (Palit 9800gt) working fine. And I haven't Dell Support in my country. Any ideas?

Betcha it's the discount video cable you bought!

Try using a much higher quality cable like I did and see if the problem vanishes for you, as it did for me.
