Defective Dell Monitor ST2210 21.5 Full HD Monitor

I have  this Dell Monitor and it begin to flicker ever so slightly with a buzzing sound coming from the top and a smell like the electronics were hot this went on for about a month and then one day I turn on the computer and the Monitor will not go on and the switch is blinking.  After doing some research online I found out that a bunch of people had a the same problem with the same monitor. My warranty expired about a year ago on this system I bought 3 years ago, does anyone know if there was a recall on this Monitor cause I think that  that I have to buy a new Monitor now when I shouldn't have to due to a defect!
